More Time Together

It’s really hard to squeeze in quality family time when your life involves so many priorities. It’s important to take a step back every now and then, and realize that the reason you do everything else, is for your family. Between work, school, homework, cleaning, cooking, shopping, sports, and more, we can get so overrun with obligations that we can’t figure out how to schedule in any quality family time. The secret is to make family time part of your daily activities.
When you are living your normal, everyday life, you have to cook, clean, and prepare everyone for the obligations that are coming up next. If you can turn this preparatory time into quality family time, you will find yourself and your family enjoying each other and spending quality time together while you live your everyday life. Now, you may be thinking that your family will never go for helping you clean and cook, but with the proper motivation, you can have them helping and learning to take care of things on their own, at the same time that you are bonding.
If you have a toddler in the house, it is the perfect time to do some training with them. Let them play basketball with the laundry. Let them aim at the washer and throw in each thing as you simply arrange the clothing to be balanced at the bottom. You can play “make a nest” by letting your toddler sit in the laundry basket while you pull warm clothes out of the dryer and pack them around her. Just make sure that clothes, buttons, and zippers are not hot when you do this. Take the time to explain how mother birds keep their babies warm by insulating the nest. Plus, if your child is light enough, you can carry them in the basket up to where you’re going to fold, squeezing in some exercise time. You can also use your child as added weight while doing numerous exercises at home.
Putting laundry away is another great way to play with your toddler while teaching them about keeping things orderly. Talk about how thankful you are to have such nice clothes and how you want to make sure that you are appreciative by taking care of them. Show her how to use infant hangers to hang the smaller items so that you don’t stretch the neck or shoulders. Explain how children’s hangers or baby hangers keep clothing from being crushed and crumpled in a drawer.
Be creative and you can turn chore time into family time at your house.
