For many new parents, this is the first time in their lives that they actually get to start from scratch and design an entire room. Here we’ve compiled some ideas for you to inspire you to create the nursery of your dreams.

1) Choose a theme. Some people go shopping for baby furniture, choose their favorite set, and then pick a theme that matches the furniture. Cherry sleigh cribs and elaborately decorated dressers lend themselves to a classical theme. More modern bamboo furniture may make you feel like creating a more contemporary nursery. This is a great place to start for most people. Another thing you might want to do is pick a decoration that inspires you. A beautiful mirror from an antique shop, a painting, a lamp, your grandmother’s rocking chair, or a special stuffed animal could inspire you to go a completely different direction than you thought.

2) Choose a color palate. Going to pick out your paint is exciting. If you want to stay away from traditional pastel pinks and baby blues, it might be a good idea. It can be tempting to paint the walls and decorate with a newborn in mind, but remember that you will soon be a busy parent and time will fly! Using bolder or more exciting colors can help you to create a nursery that can easily be changed into a kid’s room. Many parents complain that they spent so much time and money making the nursery a perfect place for their newborn to come home to, and then before they knew it, they were at it again transforming it into a toddler room.

3) Shelves are really useful in a nursery and can grow with your child. Go beyond the dresser and install shelves everywhere! Low shelving is great for storing toys on your child’s level. The tops of the shelves, if only a foot or two off the floor, double as play areas and seating when your baby gets a little older. Put smaller shelves wherever you may need them. Above the light switch for those “gotta have it now” items, above the windows and door for displaying stuffed animals, and near the crib for keeping things out of reach while you change your baby.

4) Think about how many little things you will need to organize once the baby is in the room. Luckily, baby clothes and necessities are really small, so you can take a standard sized closet and turn it into an organized heaven. Small hanging bars, baskets and shelves will be your best friends once the baby comes! Use <a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Baby Hangers">baby hangers and children’s hangers to organize baby clothes by size. These specialty hangers keep clothes from getting stretched out and will grow with your child. Even infant hangers are great for big kids’ clothes, because they don’t stretch out necks or pucker shoulders. They also are easy for kids to handle and maneuver and they don’t take up as much room in the closet. Get that closet ready to grow with your child and you’ll be on your way to a nursery that is functional and efficient.

When it comes to getting the nursery ready, it can also get expensive. You can spend a lot of money decorating, stocking and organizing the nursery, but you don’t necessarily need to. You can get a lot done with less money by focusing on function and efficiency first. Use these tips to get the basics down and then decide what extras will be most useful to you. When the baby first comes home, the main thing is to have the nursery functional. You don’t want to spend a lot of time and money on a room that is cute, but doesn’t suit your needs.

1) Think about what you really need. First, think about the bare necessities. Many new parents prefer to sleep with their baby in the master bedroom with them, so that they can keep an eye and ear close. A basinet and a rocking chair in your room may be all that you use for the first few months. However, you do want to have the baby’s room ready for other things, like storing clothing, bedding, and toys.

2) There are many safety concerns to consider right off the bat. You don’t want to find out that the dresser should have been anchored the first time your baby pulls up. Baby proofing as you go is a lot easier than deciding to do it all at once, the day that the baby starts to crawl. Use the baby’s closet as a storage area for clothing, shoes, diapers, wipes, bedding and more. This will help you to save money and space by not necessarily needing a dresser for the baby. Play room will quickly become more important to you than furniture! Plus, everything will be out of the baby’s reach and easy for you to access.

3) Set the closet up as your safety zone. This will be your area. Medications should be up high, diapering items below that, then shoes, clothes and storage items down below. You’ll love having everything in one place. Baby items are tiny, so it doesn’t matter if your nursery closet is smaller than you had wished. Install inexpensive wire shelving that is adjustable so that the system can grow with your child’s needs. Go ahead and stock the closet with <a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Infant Hangers">infant hangers, baby hangers and children’s hangers. Your baby will have several sizes of clothes in their closet all the time. Size markers are helpful, and so are containers for hand-me-down clothing that is too big, and clothes that are outgrown that can be handed down.

When the basic needs are taken care of, you will be free to decorate when you wish and when you have the funds to do so.

Creating the perfect nursery can be a fun and rewarding experience. Whether you like vintage styles or contemporary flares, creating the nursery that you want can also be challenging. Use these tips to gain insight on how to pull different styles together, how to save money, and how to keep the nursery functional all at the same time. You’ll be designing the nursery of your dreams in no time!

First, do your research. Go shopping specifically for inspiration. You can search the internet for things that get your creative juices flowing. Visiting antique shops, high end boutiques, and even craft stores can help you to form an idea of what your nursery theme should be.

Keep an eye out for things that make you feel a certain way. Keep a list or photographic record of inspiring items. Make a note of what you liked about each piece. It could be a lamp, some wall paper, a piece of fabric, a picture frame, a chair, pretty much anything. Remember, you’re not necessarily looking for nursery items, just inspiration for styles, themes and colors.

Once you choose your favorite something, you can let it lead you into making other decisions. Let’s say that you found a picture frame with bold colors and pewter accents. Take it with you while you shop and decide which pieces of furniture, bedding and décor go with it. Having a visual in your hand will eliminate any guessing that can result in returns later.

Combining styles can be tricky, especially if the two styles are on opposite ends of the spectrum. However, if you do it right, it can have a really attractive effect. For example, mixing contemporary modern furniture with vintage accents and décor. You might initially think that your grandmother’s owl lamp looks odd with the sleek crib you’re in love with. The trick to combining two styles is to marry them together with a few key pieces and focus on balance.

Vintage designs can be made to look modern with paint and accessories. The opposite is true for modern pieces. Adding a vintage fabric or finding picture frames that are vintage, yet match the contemporary pieces will help you to connect the two. One last trick to connecting styles is to paint. Choose something in the room that both styles share. It could be throw pillows or curtains. Whatever you see in the room that makes you feel like it really brings the two styles together. Now, choose a color from that palate and paint. The subtle background will help to draw all of the pieces in the room together, completing your theme.

An interesting nursery should be set off with details. Don’t neglect lighting fixtures, light switches, door knobs, and window trimmings. Even the closet can be updated to reflect the style. Children’s hangers come in so many styles and colors that you’re bound to find one that you love. <a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Infant Hangers">Infant hangers and baby hangers can dress up an otherwise boring closet and help you complete your nursery.

Preparing the nursery for your baby to come home can be exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Getting a special place ready for your baby is an important step in preparing for having a child. You will need to consider safety, clothes, toys, cleaning and diapering, all while trying to stay organized. Stocking up and organizing the room in a way that helps you accomplish this is easy when you follow these steps.

1) Your baby furniture will likely be where you spend most of your nursery budget. Choose well made furniture that can grow with your child. The furniture should not be chosen to go with a specific theme, or it won’t last you very long. If you choose used furniture, check for recalls or safety standard changes before you purchase. All furniture in the nursery should be securely anchored to studs inside the walls.

2) You can really pull a theme together by selecting bedding and curtains. There are lots of cute and wonderful baby room themes out there to choose from. You can either choose the bedding and center the theme around the one you love, or use something else, like a toy or a piece of art, and then match the bedding to that. Make sure that you don’t overfill the crib with thick bumpers, pillows or stuffed animals that could pose a suffocation hazard for the baby.

3) Make sure that the room is safe. Hot bulbs, cords that can be pulled, exposed outlets, unanchored dressers, and cords hanging from blinds or drapes are all serious hazards in a nursery. Your cleaning, diapering, and medical supplies should also be out of reach. Use the closet to keep dangerous items, like baby oil, baby wipes, and medications out of the child’s reach. You can add lots of small shelves to the closet to help you stay organized. You can even eliminate the need for a lot of baby furniture by efficiently utilizing the closet. This can help you to save room for toys in the nursery.

4) Instead of stacking and stuffing things into dresser drawers, consider hanging them on <a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Infant Hangers">infant hangers in the closet. When things are hung, they are easy to see and organize. They don’t get wrinkled or damaged either. Using baby hangers helps to keep the shoulders and neck from being stretched on tiny garments. <a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Children's Hangers">Children’s hangers are also easy for toddlers to use, so your child can grow into them and use them for many years.

It can be so exciting to start to plan your nursery.

Use <a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Baby Hangers">baby hangers and <a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Children's Hangers">children’s hangers to organize baby clothes by size.

Go ahead and stock the closet with <a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Infant Hangers">infant hangers, baby hangers and <a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Children's Hangers">children’s hangers.

Preparing for your baby to come home is an exciting adventure. Getting the nursery ready is the first step in getting ready. There are many things to consider including safety, preparedness, and arranging things so that it’s easy to stay organized. Make sure you’re prepared to stay organized while keeping your baby safe by using these tips and tricks.

1) Furniture: Choose your furniture wisely. This will be your biggest investment and set the tone for the room. If you haven’t done so, choose your theme first. Sometimes you’ll be inspired by bedding, wall paper, a chair, piece of clothing, or even a toy. If your furniture is a contrasting style, the room may not come together like you were hoping. When you’ve chosen your furniture, do your research before you buy it. Look for customer reviews, safety ratings, and don’t forget special deals from the manufacturer! You may be able to buy that boutique baby furniture a lot cheaper online than in the store.

2) Bedding: The bedding often is the starting point for decorating the room. If you are buying commercial bedding, make sure that the bumper pad is not too thick and that the fabric doesn’t have parts that can be chewed off, like tassels or buttons. Make sure that the bumper pad is removed when your baby starts pulling up because it can be used for climbing out. Fluffy pillows and large quilts and comforters can be suffocation hazards and are usually intended to be decorative. Use small, thin receiving blankets or pajamas that cover for the first few months instead of blankets and pillows.

3) Accessories: You can use accessories to decorate the room, bringing the theme full circle. Pictures, lamps, wall hangings and curtains are all great accessories. Remember that lamps can be dangerous and even fire hazards, so make certain that they are out of baby’s reach. Cords can be secured to the back of a dresser if you intend on putting the lamp there, so that the baby can’t pull the lamp down. Use unbreakable, cool touch light bulbs, too. Decorating the room can be a lot of fun. Use shelves and hooks to display decorative items and keepsakes.

4) Child Proofing: Outlets and power strips should be covered so that the baby cannot be shocked. All furniture should be anchored to studs in the walls. Cords, including curtain and blinds cords, should be secured out of baby’s reach or not in the room at all. All diapering items and medication should also be kept away from the baby. Diaper wipes, baby oils, lotions, and diaper rash creams are dangerous, even fatal, if inhaled or ingested.

5) Necessities: You will need a lot of little things in the nursery. Medications, fingernail clippers, thermometer, extra sheets, pajamas, diapers, and a lot more. Make sure that you have a place for these things out of the baby’s reach. Use containers that lock and are kept in a high place, preferably in a closet or some other inaccessible place. They will not only make the room look junky if they are stored in sight, but they are more likely to pose a hazard.

6) Organization: To keep organized, turn the nursery closet into an organization heaven. Remember that everything is small, and although numerous, it doesn’t take much space to store. Install shelving that gives you a place for everything from socks to your cool mist humidifier. Hang those precious baby clothes on <a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Infant Hangers">infant hangers or <a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Children's Hangers">children’s hangers
so that they don’t get misshapen.

<a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Children's Hangers">Children’s hangers come in so many styles and colors that you’re bound to find one that you love. <a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Infant Hangers">Infant hangers and baby hangers can dress up an otherwise boring closet and help you complete your nursery.

A new baby brings a lot of new items to manage into the home. Sometimes it can feel like a giant task. Figure out a system that help you keep things in order using this guide. Once you get everything in place, you will have a much easier time managing it.

You can use these tips no matter how little space you have to work with. The important thing for new parents is to have everything close at hand without having certain things in reach of the baby. To do this, you may need to turn to the closet.

Clear out the closet and figure out what items you need to store in there. Baskets are great for tiny items like socks. You will need shelving to stack linens, blankets and feeding cloths. Things that are going to be folded, like pajamas, can be stacked neatly on a shelf or stored in a drawer inside the closet.

A shelf or medicine cabinet up high is a good idea for keeping medical supplies and medicines out of baby’s reach. You will also need a space to keep diaper wipes, diaper rash creams, baby lotion, and baby oil out of reach. These items contain harmful chemicals that can hurt your baby if ingested or inhaled.

Laundry will be a constant in the nursery. Make sure that you have a laundry basket that you can easily toss clothing into. You may even want to put a basket for clean laundry in the bottom of the closet. This way, if you haven’t made time to put the clean clothes away, they will at least be where you can quickly and easily do it when you get a chance.

Lots of baby clothes can be hung. Invest in plenty of <a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Infant Hangers">infant hangers or baby hangers. They will not stretch out the shoulders of your precious baby clothes. Hang any dress clothes or items that you would like to keep after the baby outgrows them. Using <a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Children's Hangers">children’s hangers is also a good idea if you are going to sell or hand-down items after your baby is done with them. This will keep them from becoming misshapen and will also keep them up and out of the way, leaving more shelf space open for use.

Use dividers for sizes on the bar. This will help you easily transition between sizes as your baby grows. If you have room, put hooks inside the closet wall. Hang canvas bags and label them “charity” and “hand down”. As you discover that your baby is outgrowing things, you will have somewhere to toss them until you can find time to give them to charity or family and friends.

Having everything close at hand will prove invaluable over time. Make sure that everything has a place and that each space is at a safe height for baby. Your baby will be crawling, pulling up, climbing and more before you know it. So, make sure that your closet is organized with the close future in mind.

You know what furniture you want. You have even selected colors and a theme. But, you are looking for some unique ideas to spruce up your nursery. Use these tips to make things more convenient, organized, unique and stylish.

Recessed shelving adds a special flare to any room, but it is especially useful in a nursery. Recessed shelves are not very deep and are just right for all of those tiny baby items. It’s fairly easy to add recessed shelves. Use a stud finder to determine where the shelves will fit. Mark off the area that you would like to turn into shelves. Cut out the sheetrock with a steak knife. Fill in the gaps with plywood and 1×6 boards. Add the shelves and paint. This is a fairly simple project that is easy to do with two people.

Install a chair rail to really frame out the room. Chair rails should be one third of the height of the ceiling. Measure from floor to ceiling and divide by three. Use a level to mark a line all the way around the room. Start somewhere easy, like against a door frame or window frame. This first piece will be cut at a ninety degree angle. Adjoining pieces should fit together with forty five degree cuts. Go in one direction around the room. Use a miter saw to cut the corners and joints at forty five degrees. This will give you a professional finish. Recess the nails, fill the holes and sand the surface. Use paintable caulk to seal the chair rail to the wall. Most walls are not totally flat, so don’t be surprised if you have a gap to fill. Let it dry and you’re ready to paint.

A long storage bench is another great addition to the nursery. You may decide to use an entire wall for this, or build a bench between two bookshelves around a window for a beautiful window seat. Measure and build a basic box to fit the area. Cut the front piece a little lower than the rest to allow for closure without smashing little fingers. You may decide to make multiple lids for a really long seat. Secure box to studs with screws. Install lids with torsion hinges made for toy boxes. This will allow the tops to stay in the position that they are put in and easily close without slamming shut. Use decorative pillows, paint or stencils to personalize the space.

Whether you are adding storage or decoration, your nursery will look great. Don’t neglect the closet when you are adding storage. Use <a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Baby Hangers">baby hangers to keep clothes from getting misshapen or torn. <a href="http://www.onlykidshangers.com"title="Infant Hangers">Infant hangers not only look great, but maximize the storage capacity of a closet. Have fun with your nursery and be proud of the style that you created yourself.
